Dear Alamo NACE, 

I hope you all are enjoying your summer and beating this heat with some great events and vacations!

We are glad to be back in San Antonio after a phenomenal NACE EXPERIENCE! CONFERENCE. This year’s event in Houston was one of the best yet, with incredible education, inspiring speakers and cutting edge events. A big congratulations to our local award winners, Elegent Events by Maureen & Tobin Center for the Perforning Arts as well! ALAMO NACE members are known to be top-notch around the nation in our expertise and execution. Congrats!

As summer winds down we are all getting excited for our epic LIP SYNC BATTLE! I’m hoping for some repeat talent AND new faces. Time to suit up and start practicing! Who will bring home the big win this year? I’ll see you all there to find out!

Job Description:

To creatively up sell all hotel clients and to ensure that value paid is value received, not only in product, but in service and in ambiance. Catering Sales Manager responsible for selling and servicing hotel function space and restaurant private dining. Restaurant and/or hotel experience a plus. Preferred candidate should have solid selling techniques, ability to close business and aggresively solicit new business opportunities. A strong Catering Sales Manager will be able to work independantly to create and execute a business development plan to meet and exceed sales goals. 

Responsibilities:
  • Solicitation of direct-selling in the local catering market.
  • Coordinates catering support services (flowers, entertainment, decoration, A/V, etc.) to provide complete client satisfaction
  • Personally double-checks all function arrangements against specifications of client. Corrects where necessary
  • Maximizes revenues for the hotel through up-selling techniques
  • Responsible for taking inquiry calls and walk-ins, providing information and availability of facilities
  • Sells meeting room space in a manner that maximizes revenue and profits for the entire hotel operation
  • For each “definite” catering booking, the primary responsibility of this position is to coordinate with each client all details required to ensure the success of each event
  • Details to coordinate might include meeting room set-up specifications, banquet food & beverage items, A/V equipment, and billing details
  • Prepares resumes
  • Provides information to all event planners regarding hotel procedures, such as: meal guarantees, set-up styles, payment terms, all available hotel services, etc
  • Works with the Chef to develop custom banquet menus
  • Books functions through phone inquiries, appointments, and direct selling
  • Calls on a regular basis for any changes and  guarantees to all functions
  • Develops and maintains relationships with outside vendors
  • Assists in planning and execution of annual business and marking plan to include, but not limited to, development of Smart Action Plans
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Catering and Conference Services
