February 2019

President's Report

February is an exciting time for our chapter! Next Tuesday, February 12th, we host our annual signature event Tasty Bites, and new this year is the addition of adding a local non-profit to support. This year we have chosen Alpha Home. Alpha Home offers a pathway of help, hope and healing through spiritually based drug and alcohol treatment and support, exclusively to women. They help more than 1200 women a year in San Antonio. Please bring gently used items to donate to this worthy organization and help these women on their way to recovery. For a list of items and more on Alpha Home visit tastybiteschallenge.com.

The spirit of philanthropy doesn’t stop with Tasty Bites. Thursday, February 28th, we are partnering with a well-known friend of the local cocktail scene. Jeret Pena and Steven Martin of the Boulevardier Group (Brooklynite, Rumble, Still Golden Social House) will be co-hosting Happy Hour at Still Golden and donating a portion of the proceeds to a local non-profit and we hope that you will join us! If you know of an organization that would benefit, please look at the information below and send them our way! One of my missions for 2019 is to make NACE synonymous with giving in San Antonio and we are well on our way!

Thank you to Todd Kabes and Jessica Silvaggio-Saldivar for your hard work on both events.

Lastly, there are not enough words to express my gratitude for how magnificent our Alamo Chapter represented our city to our NACE national family during the recent Evolve Leadership Conference held at The St Anthony. Thank you to the host committee, vendors, and sponsors for showing the country why San Antonio is such an amazing city with a thriving special events industry. Mil Gracias!

A great way to give back to our local industry and have input on what the chapter is bringing back to our members is by being a committee member. Committees that are currently looking for volunteers are President's Gala, Programs, Fundraising, Community Service and Marketing. If you are interested, please email President-Elect, Stephanie Olivares, at solivares@trueflavors.com and she will forward your information to the appropriate committee chair to contact you about committee meetings and obligations.
